Melbourne's 2am Lockout

What is the lockout?

The lockout is a three-month trial of 2am late entry bans for pubs, bars and nightclubs.
During the trial, licensees in the inner city council areas of Port Phillip, Stonnington, Melbourne including Docklands and Yarra councils cannot allow patrons to enter their venues from 2am to 7am. Patrons who are already in a venue can remain until closing time but cannot leave and re-enter the premises.
Licensees who breach the lockout by allowing people into their venues after 2am will face fines of up to $6800.

2am is very very very strict. That is insane. In Sydney its 3am which I believe is about right.

Man i still get into clubs after 3am in sydney, i think it's 4am here. i dunno, though i still go club hopping after 3am.

So sucks for melbourners though, and to think we were going to go there after armin. ahh well .. hopefully the protest and petitions make a difference.

they should all just get really drunk and cause more fights while the trial is happening so that they realise that it is a bad thing and it causes more fights when you lock out a bunch of drunks and then dont go ahead and make it permenant.

i hate it. NSW country towns all have it as well at 2am. guess its to stop the really drunk guys who get kicked out from entering a new club but still... it affects the good guys more then the baddies.
